Top 5 Amazing Businesses to get a Philadelphia Prenatal Massage

Philadelphia Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is one of the truest miracles a person will ever experience.  You are growing a tiny human being. One that will become a living, breathing, baby in just a few months. The human body can withstand a lot during pregnancy; growing and accommodating space for this tiny baby that will eventually join you earthside.  But those changes and growth can bring unpleasant side effects in the form of aches and pains and just discomfort in general. One of the best treats you can give yourself in pregnancy is a prenatal massage or sometimes referred to as a pregnancy or maternity massage. There are a lot of options for businesses that offer Philadelphia prenatal massage in the area.

Prenatal massage is a specialty kind of massage that is performed by licensed massage therapists. It requires special considerations- for example you can’t lie on your back for extended periods of time after 20 weeks in pregnancy- so massage therapists need to take these into account. It also requires special equipment like a special table with space for a growing belly or extra support for different positions required. Additionally, sometimes doctors advise against prenatal massages during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy (before to discuss this with your doctor!).  For all of these reasons it is ideal to notify your scheduler that you are pregnant when booking a prenatal massage.

When I was pregnant with my son, I had my first prenatal massage.  It was the most relaxing and amazing experience of my pregnancy.  I remember feeling my baby do what felt like summersaults because my body was so relaxed during the massage. My joints and back felt very strained by the added weight of my new belly and the massage helped ease that discomfort.  I walked out of that appointment ready for a long nap and feeling like I was on cloud nine.  Needless to say, I highly recommend a prenatal massage to any pregnant mom who has been cleared by their doctor to do so!

I put together a list of great businesses in the Philadelphia area that offer prenatal massages for expectant mothers.
